if you don’t keep the door closed

In freewrite, poetry on December 9, 2010 at 11:07 pm

if you don’t keep the door closed
the noise will come in
the voices will choke you
the words, form a noose

if you don’t keep your shoes on
the splinters will prick you
the thorns will stick in you
the bleeding begins

if you don’t keep the blinds drawn
the light will blind you
the sun will burn you
the neighbors observe you

if you keep all the wind and the water and love out
no one can hurt you
cause you’ll be long dead
