How come so much can happen
in these –
The dark hours of the night

Salvation and despair

My bird is the bird who sits alone
on the cloths line

I’m thirsty for words
All of the sudden
I feel like I’m collecting them
by flour sacks
And the used and tattered books I find
Costing fifty cents from the second-hand store
Are portals more less than carpet bags
Like Mary Poppins had
And in them are a thousand words are so
Like coins
I find
I am a word collector.

I feel fragile, like a champagne glass
Fickle, like the hav’ring heather grass
And I’m shaking – empty, frigid, through and through
Is it from the bitter cold or want of you?

road to eternity

We will play the songs we’ve heard before
Deep inside our peace the fears will roar
But we’ll have none of that, no none, my friend
We’ll die for songs and peace that will not end
