Come, Spring

In freewrite, poetry on March 4, 2011 at 2:36 pm

Come, Spring –
come, planting time
come, crisp sunshine
come, knee-high dresses

My foot is tapping —
for the soil, cool and dark and deep, around my heels and hands;
up under my fingernails; up-twisted with roots.
for the cool-warm air dancing around my sundress-ed legs
and the taste of watery spring-song in my throat.

for all of these delicious things, come spring

Come, Spring
and do not tarry
